Welcome to The Tamaracks

The Hawkins Family opened the original 9 Hole Tamaracks Golf course in 1981 with the insight of Steven Hawkins as its Architect. Now thirty years later, as an 18 Hole course, it is still maintained and operated by the Hawkins family. Since the course redesign in 2008 into the Tamaracks Estates, the course layout of “woods and water” now features 5960 yards from the Blue tees with a rating of 69.0/125 par 71. The Tamaracks Golf Course has established itself as a challenging eighteen hole golf course that offers the most experienced golfer a challenge.

Our Tamaracks full service kitchen and outdoor grill delights pleases every appetite. Our Clubhouse menu offers; dinners, short orders, daily specials, snacks as well as all your favorite beverages. Want to eat on the run? We offer fresh Koegel Hot Dogs, Coney's Dogs and daily lunch specials to make your turn faster. Bring your family, bring your friends, or bring your group. Our Clubhouse staff will serve you inside or outside on our smoker friendly patio. Call for pricing to reserve our tents and grills for your group occasion.

Our Clubhouse also offers many year round events and specials, that include a wide selection of activities and menu for all ages.

The Tamaracks is located at 8900 North Clare Avenue, (also known as Business 127 or old US-27) and between the cities of Harrison six miles to the South, and Houghton Lake twelve miles to the North. This location conveniently gives The Tamaracks Golf Course and Estates easy access from all directions.

From the South take US-127 (Old US-27) to exit 176. Turn right onto Clare Avenue (Business 127) to The Tamaracks. From the North to Exit 176 and turn left to The Tamaracks. From East or West take Highway 61 into Harrison to Clare Avenue (Business 127). Drive north six miles.

The Tamaracks has well established itself within the Clare County, Michigan area as an active and giving member of their community. Their continued involvement with the Harrison Chamber of Commerce, Community Leaders, local businesses, Organizations, Fraternity’s and Clubs has inspired a variety of Fundraising golfing events. The “Friends of Clare County Parks” hold their Annual Golf Scramble that raises necessary funds for Clare County Parks and Recreation Department Programs. Each year in late September, the Tamaracks hosts people from all walks of life that work with local organizations and businesses to put on, and/or to play in, a benefit that raises Thousands of Dollars each year for the needs of Self Funding Programs to benefit Clare County residences.

Area Organizations such as The American Legion, Eagles and Loyal Order of Moose hold their 9 hole Golf Leagues at The Tamaracks every year. Each holding many Golf Scrambles to benefit the Community.

The Tamaracks features water hazards coming into play on nine holes. The tree-lined fairways vary in undulation and the elevated greens are average-sized. Many holes require shots over water to reach the greens, such as on hole #18, a 360-yard, par 4.
