Welcome to The Tamaracks

Steven Hawkins, Architect of the Tamaracks Golf Course, opened The Tamaracks to the public in 1980. The course layout now features 5960 yards from the Blue tees with a rating of 69.0/125 and a par of 71. The Tamaracks has become a popular eighteen hole golf course that offers a challenge to even the most experienced golfer. Since opening in 1980 it has become one of the “hot spots” to golf in Mid-Michigan.

The Club House offers full service to the golfers. The kitchen has a wide variety of delights that will satisfy your hunger and the Club House Bar offers a wide selection of adult beverages and mixes. Either relax in the Club House or take it with you on the course. No worries about leaving something behind, the Club House also has golf apparel and accessories.

The Tamaracks is located at 8900 North Clare Avenue, (also known as Business 127 or old US-27) and between the cities of Harrison six miles to the South, and Houghton Lake twelve miles to the North. This location conveniently gives The Tamaracks Golf Course and Estates easy access from all directions.

From the South take US-127 (Old US-27) to exit 179. Turn right onto Clare Avenue (Business 127) to The Tamaracks. From the North to Exit 179 and turn left to The Tamaracks. From East or West take Highway 61 into Harrison to Clare Avenue (Business 127). Drive north six miles.

The Tamaracks has well established itself within the Harrison, Clare County, Michigan Community through supporting various community fundraising events and causes, as well as involvement with Community Organizations, Fraternity’s and Clubs. In September, people from all walks of life along with local organizations, put on and/or play in the “Santa Scramble For Kids” This benefit alone raises Thousands of dollars each year to purchase Christmas Gifts for children in Clare County that may not otherwise receive one.

Area Organizations such as The American Legion, Eagles and Loyal Order of Moose hold their 9 hole Golf Leagues at The Tamaracks every year. Each holding many Golf Scrambles to benefit the Community.

The Tamaracks features water hazards coming into play on nine holes. The tree-lined fairways vary in undulation and the elevated greens are average-sized. Many holes require shots over water to reach the greens, such as on hole #18, a 360-yard, par 4.
